What I don't understand is why she didn't keep going. As the bridge was lifting her up, didn't she think to herself "Gee, I should probably drive slowly forward so if the bridge angle get's really high, at least my fall won't be as far...". I assume she was just frozen in white-knuckles-on-steering-wheel fear?
She's probably debating if her emergency brake is strong enough to hold her car in place while she folds back the back seat and crawls into the trunk to look for her old roller blades.
